The School of Agricultural, Food and Biosystems Engineering (ETSIAAB) contributes 17 researchers and professors to the 'World's Top 2% Scientists List', an annual ranking by Stanford University. The Elsevier data classifies the most cited researchers worldwide in all disciplines. This prestigious list includes the 2% of scientists with the highest number of citations worldwide, ranking them in 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields.

This year's data is very positive as there are four more ETSIAAB researchers than in 2022. We are talking about 24.28% of the seventy UPM researchers on this list.

ETSIAAB researchers in this list are:

- 'Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry Sciences': Santiago Benito and Antonio Morata (Food Science). Juan Carlos de Blas, Gonzalo González Mateos, Jesús Fernández and Miguel Ángel Toro (Animal Science). Antonio Vallejo, Miguel Quemada and Alberto Sanz Cobeña (Agronomy & Agriculture).

- 'Environmental Sciences and Engineering': Luis Lassaletta, Gabriel Gascó and Ana Iglesias.

- 'Biology': Juan Carlos del Pozo (Plant Biology & Botany).

- ‘Enabling & Strategic Technologies’: Javier Almorox (Energy).

- ‘Biomedical Research’: Jaime Huerta Cepas (Biology and Evolution), and Jesús Israel Pagán and Fernando García Arenal (Virology).

These researchers are part of ETSIAAB's departments: 'Agricultural Production', 'Plant Biotechnology-Biology', 'Food Chemistry and Technology', 'Economics of Agriculture, Statistics and Business Management', and the Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP). The ranking analyses various indicators, considering scientific production in different periods, the h-index, citations, and co-authorship position.
