Goals In the recent past, Agroforestry Biotechnology has resulted in a new technological revolution, based on knowledge of the biology of model plants, major agricultural crops and forest species. Likewise, remarkable progress has been made in the knowledge of the microorganisms that interact with plants, harmful or beneficial, and those that have an industrial interest. The genetic resource characterisation of plants and microorganisms is of strategic importance since these resources are the starting point for new biotech applications in the agro-food and forestry sectors.

The objective of the Programme is to train Ph Doctors with a thorough knowledge of both the functioning of living beings of agro-food and forestry interest, and of the productive processes in which they are involved. Future Ph Doctors will be able to lead new Research, Development and Technological Innovation activities in fields such as biotechnology, agriculture, food, and environmental technologies, thus responding to the increasing demands of productive sectors.
Lines of research
